CASA volunteer Nancy Roberto was recently honored by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Nancy, the Clinical Director of Advanced Practice Nurses at Children's Hospital, received the May Jefferson Award for her years of service to ProKids. ProKids was proud to be among the 5 finalist for the 2009 Small Business Excellence Award, in the non-profit category, which the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber hosts annually. ProKids submitted the application that asks non-profits to think like a business, highlighting the agency in terms of customer relations, strategic planning and leadership style. According to the Chamber, a record number of applications were submitted this year. Over 500 people attended the event on May 19, which gave ProKids an opportunity to have its name and work in front of major business leaders from throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.

The Darlene Kamine Advocate of the Year Award
The Darlene Kamine Advocate of the Year Award was named for Darlene Kamine, a Juvenile Court Magistrate for 18 years who helped found ProKids in 1981. This award was created to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding ProKids CASA volunteers. The recipients of this award are shining examples of individuals making extraordinary efforts on behalf of a child.

Leslie R. Jaffee Award
Leslie R. Jaffe Volunteer of the Year Award
This award was named for Leslie R. Jaffe, an outstanding ProKids volunteer and staff member who lost her battle with cancer in 1993. The recipients of this award are not only exemplary CASA volunteers, but also tireless volunteers who contribute time and efforts to other projects that benefit ProKids and our children.
