ProKids is seeking a strategic and solution-oriented business operations and finance director to foster the long-term financial health of our growing nonprofit agency. The position is responsible for agency financial, budgeting and accounting operations, and as such, requires a candidate with demonstrated discretion and uncompromising financial ethics.

The director will oversee everyday business activity, as well as long-term financial planning. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be able to toggle seamlessly between a micro and macro view, as well as between the present and future of our agency.
The successful candidate will lead a dedicated staff to manage compliance efforts, administer employee benefit programs, and provide business support functions.
A key member of the ProKids leadership team, the business operations and finance director will make data-driven decisions that drive strategic and operational efforts. They will become a trusted partner to other ProKids leaders, monitoring the agency budget and advocating for the thoughtful and effective use of funds in serving abused and neglected children. The director will also collaborate for agency goal setting and reporting, ensuring that continuous data collection and reflection lend to process improvements that will maximize the agency’s impact.

Overall Job Description:
Business Operations – Prepare financial and outcome reports. Maintain reporting and compliance efforts. Act as HR partner in policy and compliance, overseeing and ensuring the accuracy of benefits, payroll, reimbursements and more. Manage agency infrastructure, empowering ProKids employees to navigate our building, technology and benefits with familiarity. Manage contracts and vendor relationships.
Finance – Establish agency financial projections, creating a financial plan and budgets that prioritize the long-term health of ProKids. Act as a partner and advocate to other members of the senior leadership team, bringing a finance lens to budget decisions. Supervise ProKids office & accounting manager, ensuring accurate and punctual accounting practices. Identify problems, solutions and opportunities to improve processes and strengthen ProKids.
Experience: ProKids seeks a strategic and forward-thinking professional with experience managing a budget of at least $2 million. The successful candidate will have three to five years of experience as a licensed CPA (though a current license is not required), as well as two years of robust work or volunteer leadership experience. Knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software is required. Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Paycor and Optima are preferred. Work or volunteer experience in the nonprofit sector is strongly preferred.
