Temporary Advocacy Assistant

ProKids is seeking a temporary advocacy assistant to support our team’s administrative needs. The role is part-time — expected to include 20 hours per week for approximately three months with the possibility of extension. The temporary advocacy assistant will process, distribute and file case documents. As part of the team that works directly with ProKids CASA Volunteers, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to support our community’s abused and neglected children.

Position Focus: Provides support to Advocacy Coordinator, processes incoming mail from all sources, and ensures documents are distributed appropriately, part of their legal file, and scanned and uploaded to H drive and Optima in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or its equivalent. Has ability to work independently, multitask, work under deadlines, and has proficiency in general computer applications and Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide ongoing support to Advocacy Coordinator. Including but not limited to:

  • Processes incoming mail from court courier, USPS and medical records
  • Scans all above documents to CASA Manager and Attorney
  • Adds all above documents to H drive and Optima in a timely manner
  • Files all processed mail in the accordion file to be filed in the legal file by Litigation
  • Completes VOCA letters monthly and keeps track of letters sent

2. Ensure the effective representation of ProKids to external organizations and individuals

3. Performs duties in accordance with ProKids objectives and in compliance with relevant standards and agency commitments

4. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds
  • Normal activities associated with work in an office setting
  • Stooping, standing, carrying objects and overhead lifting
