This class, particularly encouraged for CASA Volunteers working on their very first case, includes an overview of resources and tools to manage a case. It will pull together what participants learned in CASA University and present information about child trauma, including domestic violence, as well as how-to’s when it comes time to write a court report. There will also be a review of what’s available for CASA Volunteers at the ProKids office and online. You’ll gain insight into your case and the case plan through ProKids staff and the discussion with other volunteers.
Training will be presented by Steps to Peace Program Manager and Professional Development Director Kathy King. In addition to presenting training like this, she is available to consult on cases involving domestic violence and child trauma. Along with your CASA Manager, she can assist you in accessing information and resources.
This is a recurring course. If you have already participated, you are welcome to come again – as some of the material has been updated – but you do not need to attend a second time. If you have not taken this class before, and you completed CASA University in 2017 or after, this course is a Continuing Ed priority for you.

“This training has been partially funded through a contract between Ohio CASA and the Department of Job and Family Services. Ohio CASA supports local CASA/GAL programs throughout Ohio with training, technical assistance, legislative support, and standards implementation so volunteers may advocate for abused, neglected and dependent children in the court system.”
