About

ProKids is a nonprofit organization in Hamilton County, Ohio, that mobilizes the community by training and supporting volunteers who break the vicious cycle of child abuse and neglect. ProKids Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA Volunteers) speak up for abused and neglected children, guiding them to safe environments where they can thrive.

Since 1981, ProKids has changed the arc of children’s lives through engaged volunteers, proactive staff, and a committed community. We work to create a new cycle of growing up safe and secure, fundamentally changing the future for children and for Greater Cincinnati. Our efficacy is demonstrated by our annually updated outcome measures. ProKids is one of more than 900 CASA programs nationwide, and part of the National CASA/GAL Association for Children.

How?

Recruiting, Training,
and Supporting
CASA Volunteers

We recruit, train, and support Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers to advocate for children, helping to guide them into safe environments where they can thrive. Our CASA volunteers are the heart of our advocacy; we give them the tools, resources, and support they need so that they can speak up for children who have been abused and neglected.

Maximizing Outcomes
for Our Children

Thanks to our community of volunteers, donors, and system partners we are increasing awareness of child abuse and neglect.

Why We Do It

Each year, thousands of children are so severely abused and neglected that they become part of Hamilton County’s child protection system. Most of these children were taken from the only family they have ever known and placed in foster care. These child victims need a powerful voice – an advocate acting on behalf of their best interests.

Our Vision

A safe, permanent, and nurturing home for every child.

Our Mission
  • What: ProKids mobilizes our community to break the vicious cycle of child abuse and neglect.
  • How: ProKids helps our community discover the power of investing in the promise of our children. We recruit, train, and support community volunteers to speak up for children who have been abused and neglected and help guide them into safe environments where they can thrive. ProKids creates alliances within the child protection system to maximize outcomes for our children.
  • Why: To create a new cycle of growing up safe and secure, fundamentally changing the future for our children and our entire community.

Our Values

ProKids is a committed community of passionate advocates who are:

  • Collaborators for children: We look for the best possible outcomes for the children we serve. We make honest and independent recommendations, partnering whenever we can with others in the child protection system and community, to fulfill the promise of our children.
  • Optimistic about outcomes: We confront challenges by optimizing strengths, measuring our results, and striving for what is possible. We are solution-oriented and believe change is possible.
  • Learning: We are committed to continuous improvement in our work, valuing adaptability and joining with others to learn as well.
  • Persistent: We do not give up on one another or our collaborators, knowing we create a better future together. Most importantly, we never give up on the children we serve.
  • Respected and Respectful: We value the confidence the community has in us as professionals in the child protection system. We consistently work with integrity as we help break the cycle of child abuse and neglect. We work to mobilize a diverse community of allies who are vested in children’s well-being, realizing the value of many voices coming together to speak up for our children. We trust in one another, building a culture of belonging and inclusiveness as we work toward a common goal of a safe, permanent, and nurturing home for every child.
